Preliminary observations starting from the research project ‘Ravenna and Its Late Antique and Medieval Epigraphic Landscape’ Creator https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/1894 Date 2024 Language eng Rights https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.en CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 Abstract Focusing on Late Antique epigraphic and architectural artifacts preserved in Italian and Greek contexts – starting from the research project ‘Ravenna and its Late Antique and Medieval Epigraphic Landscape’ – this study assesses the effectiveness of Structure from Motion (SfM) and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) in generating 3D models suitable for sharing as open data within digital collections. The analysis compares the speed and accessibility of SfM and LiDAR in producing reconstructions, as well as their precision in capturing engravings and decorations. In fact, the research project on Epigraphy from Ravenna, under the guidance of Prof. S. Cosentino at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Alma Mater Studiorum, Università di Bologna, aims to digitize inscriptions in Ravenna spanning from 402 to 1441. A key project objective is to establish a digital platform that Is Part Of https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/2002 Bibliographic Citation https://www.zotero.org/groups/5293298/bidiar/collections/CYD7H6LM Cites https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/11096 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13482 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13483 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13484 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13485 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13486 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13487 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13488 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13489 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13490 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13491 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13492 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13493 https://chloe.cnr.it/s/BiDiAr/item/13494 Doi https://doi.org/10.19282/ac.35.2.2024.43 Issue 2 Pages 411-420 Uri https://www.archcalc.cnr.it/journal/articles/1363 Volume 35 Homepage https://www.zotero.org/groups/5293298/bidiar/items/WZJW4PJD/item-list --
